Site delivery and aggregate statistics

Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services process ordinary requests, including your IP address, to deliver and protect the site. I use the existing Cloudflare dashboard for aggregate request statistics, including approximate countries, requested paths and response status codes. The legal basis for the necessary personal-data processing is my legitimate interest in operating and securing this website.

Country estimates describe the network location of requests and can be affected by VPNs and proxies. Counts include bots, repeat requests and assets such as images; sampled figures are estimates. These statistics do not establish unique people, recruiter identity, time spent reading, scroll depth or on-page link clicks.

Requested preferences

When you explicitly select a thesis language or request thesis access, the site remembers that requested function with a first-party cookie. No language cookie is set just for displaying the default language. These cookies are separate from aggregate statistics.

• thesis_lang: remembers an explicit EN/DE selection for 180 days.
• thesis_access_granted: remembers requested thesis access for 180 days; it is a true/false flag.

You can clear these preferences in your browser’s site-data settings. The site also removes cookies and browser storage left by its previous analytics implementation; it does not use those old identifiers for tracking.

Previous analytics and thesis requests

Earlier versions sent analytics to PostHog after an opt-in, and later sent aggregate daily delivery summaries. That integration has been retired. Removing it does not automatically delete data already received by that service. Contact me for questions about previously collected data.

The separate thesis access form asks for permission to record your name and persona when you submit a request. The request contents are separate from the delivery statistics.
